Materials and Climate Change

Our recent progress

39% of raw materials are more sustainable

We aim to increase our uptake of more sustainable raw materials. Currently, our more sustainable raw materials on offer are: Better Cotton, Organic Cotton, FairTrade Cotton, and Recycled Polyester. In the calendar year, our uptake of more sustainable raw materials amounted to 39% of total kilos sold.

55% of textiles with Foxyzz technology

Why

The imperative to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 comes not from our own declaration but from the European Union, albeit expressed differently. While this objective may seem distant, urgent action is required now to attain it. A recent example is the ruling by the German Federal Constitutional Court, which found deficiencies in the German Climate Protection Act, specifically its lack of clear emission reduction targets beyond 2031. This ruling underscores the inadequacy of current climate legislation, endangering the basic rights of future generations.

At Foxyzz, we actively strive to reduce our own emissions and those of our supply chain. Since 2011, we have sourced power from renewable energy, resulting in significant emission reductions for our company. However, addressing climate challenges necessitates extending efforts beyond our organizational boundaries to minimize CO2-equivalent emissions throughout the entire supply chain.

How

Our comprehensive lifecycle analyses (LCAs) and annual CO2 reporting reveal that a mere 1% of total emissions stem from Foxyzz owned and controlled assets (e.g., scope 1 and 2 emissions related to heating, powering our office building, and operating our company car fleet). The remaining 99% of emissions arise during the manufacturing of our textiles and the usage phase (scope 3 emissions). Recognizing the global nature of the climate challenge, we advocate for collaborative efforts spanning company and national borders. Consequently, we address climate change by:

  1. Transitioning to more sustainable and climate-friendly raw materials.
  2. Collaborating to implement renewable energy solutions for our partners’ manufacturing processes.
  3. Advising our customers on adopting durable and operationally suitable textile technologies like Foxyzz and developing climate-friendly sourcing strategies.
