Circular Partnerships

We cannot keep doing what we used to do. The linear way of production, consumption, and throwing away is not sustainable. Therefore, Beirholm entered a partnership with the Swedish company Reused Remade. They turn our laundry customers’ used sheets and duvet covers into fashionable bags that are then resold to retailers in Europe.

Why

It has become widely acknowledged that the conventional linear model of production, consumption, and disposal is unsustainable. Our economy heavily relies on finite resources, and to sustain growth—essential for combating poverty—we must shift towards recycling and reusing the resources we currently discard.

The European Union’s economic vision is articulated as follows: “…a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy where there are no net emissions of greenhouse gases in 2050 and where economic growth is decoupled from resource use.” In simpler terms, it emphasizes the need to decarbonize the economy while fostering growth independent of scarce resource utilization.

Our laundry partners diligently maintain textiles, ensuring they last for several years, sometimes even decades. Eventually, though, textiles wear out. This is where Reused Remade steps in. The Swedish company transforms used duvet covers and sheets into stylish shopping bags, which are then distributed to retailers across Europe. This marks the closure of the initial loop and represents the initial stride towards fostering a more circular economy.
